    Wow! It's Been a While...

    Thursday, September 6, 2007, 12:26 PM [General]

Wow!  It's been a while since I last posted on here. Since my last post, I have bowled in Vegas, and a couple other cities in the Phoenix area.  Vegas was fun.  I went bowling at 5:00 AM the morning after a long night of partying at the Orleans over Spring Break.  It's the only time I am happy going 250-150-240-180...I ended up getting new grips and bowling 8 games.  It was nice...I averaged over 200 a game, and I just love showing myself that I haven't forgotten the game I love so dear.

I was invited to a Cosmic Bowling Party in August in Glendale, AZ, and right out of the gate I shot a 267 with a 9-bagger. I told people I wouldn't use my arm brace the next game and fired a 248. Go figure I'd do that well.  The group said no more right-handed bowling the rest of the way...I shot pretty good left handed the rest of the way...I'm happy with 120s-130s!

I went to my home house (Frontier in Scottsdale, AZ) and shot 227-206 about two weeks ago. Seems like I'll never forget how to bowl, and should I move with my family to the midwest, I'll be ready to resurrect my amateur career...

Thanks to those who checked out my page recently. Hopefully I'll have more bowling stories!

    Cheers!

    Midnight Bowling at the Orleans!

    Thursday, March 1, 2007, 04:26 PM [General]

One of the things I love to do while in Vegas over Spring Break is to go bowling at the Orleans (and anywhere else I can)...My buddies think I am nuts because I'll go to bed extremely late (2 AM) after bowling or get up at 5:30 AM to go bowl...At a buck a game in a massive house, I'll go a good 12-16 games each day I am there.  I am really looking forward to it this year because I am bringing my own equipment and a renewed passion for the sport.

I found it strange that the US Open scores were low (sub-200 is considered low), and I contemplated entering as an amateur this year.  I know I will be eligible next year. I hope the tournament is held in the Western US in '08...I'll plop the $500 down to go qualify.

    Anyhow...Two weeks to Vegas!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers,

    Nick

Bowled for the First Time in Three Months...

    Saturday, February 17, 2007, 09:55 PM [General]

    Hey Everyone,

I finally went bowling for the first time in three months. I decided to go with my son, my father, and the family and I wanted to see how my form felt again.  I'd have to say this was the most positive I've felt about my game in some time.  Now mind you I only bowled 2 games; however, the results were excellent and instantaneous.

The first game I came out flat, and had an open (chopped the 2-4-5) and a missed baby split (9-10). Sitting at 104 in the 6th frame, I knew I had some work to pull off the 200. I struck in the 7th, had a 9/ in the 8th, then struck on the 9th and the first two in the 10th and ended up with a 203. Talk about being excited...I still shot over 200. My poor dad ended up in the 160s as usual and my 4 year old broke 100 again. I was pumped making 6 marks in a row to end the game.

The second game came around and some hot shot bowlers came in two pairs next to us making noise and throwing the massive hooks. One thing I learned long ago is that if you can't control the big hook, your scores can go down in a hurry with the big mistakes. I started slow with a 9/ in the first and second frames. I then proceeded to string five strikes in a row to really silence these guys and I was quietly putting together a great game. When all was said and done, I had put together 11 marks in a row for a 233. My dad and son couldn't beat that combined, and I knew I was really on. I then called it a day. Always a good feeling to string 17 marks in a row and leave, huh?

I hope you are all bowling well. I can't wait to bowl at the Orleans in Vegas in March for Spring Break! I am looking for a 15 pound Columbia 300 Reaction RIP if you can help me...

    Welcome!

    Tuesday, December 19, 2006, 10:50 AM [General]

Welcome to my bowlspace page. I have been bowling since 1983 and in leagues from 1985-2005 (even summers) without a break and left competitive play in 2005. I've shot multiple 300s and more 700 series than I can count. I can provide some good insight with my coaching knowledge (5 years experience coaching youth bowlers).

I also recently discovered that I have bowled competitively with four current PBA players (Michael Haugen Jr., Joe Ciccone, Jim Pratt, and rookie Andrew Cain), linking my junior, collegiate, and amateur careers! I'll be rooting for you guys!

I don't have anything on here yet; however, I hope to return to USBC play in 2007!
